The rule for booking an overnight in a Refuge Périurbain is simple.
1- First, you have to pre-book on the website (with however one night maximum only for each Refuge).
Bookings open at the beginning of the month before the month’s requested date (ie, for a trip in August, you may apply for your booking early July – all opening dates are scheduled here).
This service being totally free of charge and on a « first booked, first served » basis, a very high amount of demands are registered as soon as reservations open.
Therefore, it is sometimes difficult to find space, especially during high season, week ends, or bank holidays.
2- In order to confirm your reservation, you will be then requested to forward a check deposit as well as a certificate from your civil liability insurance.
This insurance must cover any damages you may cause during your stay. Your booking will be fully approved upon receipt of these two documents.
For French people, maximum sending delays are 1 week, but it may be lengthened upon request for travellers from abroad.
> Warning : les Refuges périurbains offer very basic comfort. The furniture consists in beds with mattress as well as tables and chairs. There is no electricity or running water.
Some of them are equipped with dry toilets whereas others provide public lavatory in the vicinity.
